Sale Question

Ok, I have a question for all of you out there that have sold a horse in the past. I finally have someone who is seriously interested in Tux, but she lives out of state. I am completely fine with selling him out of state, but she doesn't think she can come down to try him out, plus she wants her vet to do the pre-purchase exam so instead she wants to ship him up to her and do a lease-to-buy sort of thing. She says she could probably decide in two weeks whether or not she wants to keep him.

She seems like a nice lady, her sister with whom she rides is an accomplished dressage trainer and she likes Tux because he reminds her of one of her first horses, a black pinto who she bought at 12 and trained to dressage, retiring him at Grand Prix at 26, then he lived to be 37!

Anyways, thoughts? She would basically just find a trailer that's going her way to hitch a ride, not a commercial shipper, it's only a roughly 6 hour drive. We would of course have a contract drawn up, etc. I'd probably ask for a couple references to talk to as well, then he would also need a Coggins pulled and a health certificate. I've just never had experience selling a horse across state lines, so is this something you would do or say no?

In addition, I had a comment the other day about his sale listing, so if anyone is interested, here's the link to the dreamhorse ad. And of course you have this whole blog to see all the pictures and videos of him :)

Sickie

Bleh. I think I have finally succumbed to the first round of the nasty sickness going around. Unfortunately, I really wanted to ride tonight, but I don't think I will since even just walking quickly made me feel winded and even more ill. Sadness. My throat hurts, I have zero energy, and just want to sleep. This sucks.

Last night Jetta and I jumped. She was really good except for three nasty refusals at first. Weird horse. After that though, she was absolutely perfect both ways over the jump and even cantering over it. That makes me so happy! I was going to have one last jump over it so we could finish on a good note, but then two girls getting on for their lesson came into the arena and stopped directly in front of my jump to mount up. I circled at the trot, figuring they'd hop on, I'd pop over the jump and then cool out. I circled, and circled, and circled while they adjusted their girth, their stirrups, their bridles, then got on and sat there and talked to the trainer. By the time they had moved off I had slown to a walk and given up on one last jump. Sigh. It was still a semi-good note to end on, but I really wanted that last jump!

I had hoped to set up a mini-course today since I got out of class early and no one would be at the barn. I'm so bummed that I don't feel good! I feel like if I ride, it's going to make me feel a lot worse even if I don't jump as planned.

Oh yes, definitely one of these.
No ham on Thanksgiving for me!
I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving though! A four day weekend, at home, with no homework (I crammed it all in this week) and a lot of good food. I'm excited. I've been looking forward to this for weeks. I probably won't be on much this weekend because 1) I'll be sleeping or 2) I'll be hanging with my family, so I just want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a good time with family and gets to eat lots of good food - Mmm... Turkey for me :) I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful horse, great friends, to be able to go to college, my crazy family and not to mention all you wonderful people who read this blog and brighten my day every time you comment! (Well, when at least when they're nice comments, lol!)

I'll leave you wish a contest blurb from my newest internet addiction, GetMyFix.org which has a contest every week. This week is a beautiful Sanswill Designs ear bonnet that I love. Look, this one is in my colors! And I could get crystals on it, ooh... So if you're interested, stop over there and enter the contest!

Saturday Links

If you haven't found this blog yet, go look! It's a great blog dedicated to finding horsey deals, sales, giveaways, etc. I love it! Seriously Horsing Around

Eventing Horse Trial Jumping Dressage CUSTOM Decal NEW

I saw this car decal over at Stacey's blog - I. Want! It's so neat :)

I like breastplates. Especially unusual ones. My past favorites were the Vespucci Jumper Breastplate, Voltaire Design Convertible breastplate, and Antares breastplate. This one has completely replaced the Vespucci one! It has the same Y-configuration but it's super pretty. I'm obsessed with fancy stitching so this is definitely a new fav! Now if I could only find someone who sells them in the US...

Love these shirts. They have dressage, jumping and xc shirts, very neat.

Saturday Links

I think this might be a regular thing on the blog since weekends I'm usually so busy and I don't have much to blog about! Kind of like a copy-cat thing from Eventing Nation's links.

If you've ever seen those cute dressage boots on Tack of the Day that come in some awesome colors, but you always miss out on them... You can get them here! I'm eyeing the pink ;)

Speaking of Tack of the Day, there a Back on Track Rime Blanket for $149, which is almost $200 off it's usual price! I'm really tempted to get one... It ends on Monday at Noon, EST.

If you've ever coveted an ecogold pad (like me!) then you might look at Success Equestrian pads. While they're not as super cool as ecogold, they get the job done. VTO Saddlery (always a great place) has a dressage pad on sale for half off at $39.95!

I just bought this book and am eagerly devouring it. I definitely recommend it for everyone, especially if you're interested in how hooves work.

I thought this was an interesting article - Stockholm Syndrome - especially because while dressage trainers have the reputation for being mean, I noticed a lot of them really are! At least with some of the ones I've worked with :) I like this person!
